Studies show that the most beneficial hours for sleep are between 10:00 pm and 2:00 am. Those are the hours that are the most regenerative and when most of our cancer-fighting efforts take place. These hours are extra-replenishing to the adrenal glands. Adrenal fatigue is rampant in the Western world. If the adrenals are “borrowing” energy from elsewhere to keep going, you will soon become very run-down and probably become ill.
Begin getting ready for sleep at 9:00 pm. First thing: shut off the TV and computer. Decrease all stimulus. Drinking herbal tea, journaling, listening to very soothing music, having a bath or doing gentle stretches will calm you down. Aim to be dozing off by 10:00 pm to maximize the healing benefits of sleep.
