Out On A L.I.M. – Day 18: Pushing Through

Today’s mission was to just get through the day. It was tough. I didn’t get enough sleep thanks to having had too much water too late last evening. Remember my goal to drink half my weight in ounces? Yeah – I need to iron out the kinks in that plan. Must drink at least half before noon, so I’m not up half the night, bumping my way into the bathroom.

Given the lack of sleep, in the past, I would have succumbed to napping and procrastinating on work, and I would have skipped a workout.  Lordy, was I lazy!  Today I completed all my work anyway, took no naps and I even exercised while watching television – a rare thing for me.  Plus, I’m still writing the blog.  Although, I’ll miss my goal of being asleep by midnight. Something had to give.

Part of goal accomplishment is doing things a new way. I ignored the previous programming and pushed through to move forward. Amazing how much stronger and focused it’s possible to be if you just expect it from yourself.

It doesn’t matter to anyone else that I didn’t nap when I was tired or that I did abdominal exercises at 10 pm.  Not exactly earth-shattering stuff. But it’s significant to me. And these 100 days of improving my life are obviously all about me.  I also hope I can inspire others to make small daily changes that improve their lives. Better lives make for happier, more peaceful people. Isn’t that part of everyone’s life mission?

What are you doing to improve your life?
