I have an Energy Healing Tip on this site about raising your energy by doing common tasks in an uncommon way. It’s main purpose is to create new neural pathways between the brain hemispheres. You need to keep learning new things to keep energy flowing and to stave off dementia, Alzheimer’s and boredom.
One of my tips is to brush your teeth with your “other” hand. I mean your non-dominant hand, of course, not the spare in the closet. Following my own advice has been eye-opening. The first thing I noticed was the need to *slooooow dooooown.* That was the only way to attempt this tricky small-muscle chore. This must have been a treat for my teeth and gums that are usually assaulted by speed and pressure.
Secondly, I had to *pay attention* to what I was doing so I wouldn’t miss whole teeth altogether. I was focused on brushing carefully, consciously, and a small part of brain space was paying hommage to Eckhart Tolle’s career-long advice to stay in the NOW. He’s right – it changes everything.
Regarding neural pathways being created, well, I could feel my brain working. There’s an entire suspension bridge between east and west now. I’ve even begun using my second-choice hand for other activities. Try punching your PIN code into a bank machine. It’s a whole different pattern and feeling. And that’s the point. We need to have new experiences and sensations to feel alive. Change is good.
Starting small is okay. Starting small is huge.
